Salder specialises in the development and production of products that repel mosquitoes and other biting insects. Salder's principal products, all of which are formulated as soaps, are NOPIKEX® (a repellent for topical use), IMPREGNET® (for the application of insecticide to clothing and mosquito nets) PIOTOX® (a treatment for head-lice) and KARRANKIL® (a treatment for scabies).
Prevailing research on the part of scientists and governments concerned with the increasing difficulty in the prevention and control of vector-borne diseases was our motivation to begin in the early 1980's to work with a low cost, highly effective insect repellent suited to mass administration. Recognising the significant need for a product with these characteristics Salder was founded to produce and commercialise the repellent as NOPIKEX®. Since then we have dedicated ourselves to successfully demonstrating NOPIKEX®'s effectiveness through rigorous field tests funded by such prestigious organisations as the World Health Organisation, UNDP/World Bank/WHO Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR), the British Medical Research Council, The US National Institutes of Health, and the European Community Commission Special Programme for the Sciences, Research and Development, among others.
